I was able to spend most of the weekend working on the Vicky. I was also able to get to the front of the shop and get the car up on the lift. It made it much easier to remove the gas tank, driveshaft and put in the drop blocks and new rear shocks. I’m not sure how old the rear shocks were, but I had to cut them off because the nuts were frozen up real good. If I had to guess, the Gabriel’s were original equipment. They were replaced with KYB Gas Adjust (#5517) and I added 2″ drop blocks from Butch’s Cool Stuff. I think this actually raised the rear end! I wish I would have taken pictures of the before, but I forgot. I’m pretty sure though that the old saggy shocks had more of a drop than what I have now. Oh well! I know the new shocks will settle a bit and when I get all of the weight back on the car it will come down some more. This week I hope to get most of the undercarriage between the frame rails coated and also get the rear seat belts out. The next major step is to get the engine and transmission out of the car. That I will tackle some time after Hot August Nights. I can’t do it right now because I need to get some of the parts (interior, front sheet metal) out of the shop, but I don’t have anywhere to put them so I am building a new shed in my back yard. This car is a constant snowball! Every tiny little thing requires 6 other things to be done!
