Wow, what a crazy busy week it’s been! I feel like I got a lot of things accomplished. Some big and some small, but a variety nonetheless.

First, I sprayed some paint on a few random parts I had laying around that were ready for it – bumper brackets, battery tray, and the sway bar.

I finally got the dust caps seated and then today my dad and I were able to get the calipers mounted. It really is a two person job. There was no way I could hold the caliper with one hand position the key and pound it in with a hammer. I’m so glad that is done! Now the front brakes assemblies are ready to be mounted.

After that I mocked up the brake booster, master cylinder and brake pedal assembly to make sure everything was going to work. It all fit like a glove. Fingers crossed this is a sign of how things with this car will go back together. I left it mounted to the firewall so I had something to inspire me when I walk into the shop the next time.

We started the day by finishing the blasting on the control arms. I also blasted the dash and the area around the rust on the fenders. Now that the control arms are finished I can get the new bushings pressed in. I can also take the fenders to the body shop. Woot!

Lastly, my dad brought his 1963 Impala down today. Here’s a shot of it. He’s had this car since 1994. He’s the third owner of it and it had somewhere around 55K original miles on it when he bought it. It’s a 283 with an automatic, original interior and it’s only had one repaint. I hope my car looks half as good as this when it’s done!
